Surviving the Boys' Club: Where Fragile Egos Thrive
What happens when you call someone out on their dirty games? They band together to outcast you, making you regret standing up for what’s right.
I usually don’t choose to talk bad about my work because that’s where my bread and butter comes from. However, when a company of barely 40 employees serves as a crash course on the “man’s world,” it’s impossible to stay silent. In less than a year, I’ve learned more lessons here than in my entire career.
The biggest lesson I have learned this year is, if someone abuses their power to put you down, it means you’ve threatened them with the truth. Of course, When their empire is built on delusion, the mere mention of reality bursting their bubble terrifies them.
It turns out that even 20-year-olds can have egos larger than their height. Because they were never taught to respect women at home. Their fragile pride clings to petty differences, and a woman showing competence or authority feels like an insult to them.
And for those who think only women gossip, let me introduce you to the boys in my office. They spend so much time scrutinizing everyone else’s activities that you’d wonder if they ever actually work.
And what do I say about the management! It’s run by boys with outdated mindsets. They’re fine with women in the workplace as long as we don’t dare to use our brains.
Let me tell you about one particularly quiet individual. He degrades women subtly, with minimal words and a sweet tone that masks his intentions. This “thali ka baingan” (one who constantly shifts loyalties) is the most dangerous and unpredictable. His favorite line? “I don’t argue with females.” A convenient and perpetual excuse for his sexist behavior.
These are just the lead roles. We have yet not covered the supporting roles But we’ll save that for another time... or maybe not. A perfect sexist place exists. I interact with two-faced colleagues who pretend to be nice and helpful, but reality is far from it.
Gosh the the ego circus I call work. Now, don’t come rushing to me for more details, I know you are curious because who doesn't love a juicy gossip on a side of back bitching.
Moral of the story: if they can’t control, and manipulate, they will talk about you behind your back. They have to because when they talk about themselves no one listens!!!
Until next time people,
love and kiss kiss
